Gaining

New appetite med regimen

I just ordered a few months supply of Megace and cyproheptadine to really boost my gains to the next level. They’re arriving in 2 weeks. I’m going to be taking 160 mg of megestrol acetate a day and 4-8 mg of cyproheptadine a day depending on how effectively I can push through the sedative aspect of it.

I’m curious if anyone else has any experience with these medications? I’ve tried them before for just a month and gained 12-15 lbs but fell off due to life getting busy for a few months and not being able to afford a new supply. I’m now hopping back on the train, and have some idea what to expect, but it is a slightly higher dose and I’m planning on taking them for much longer than a month this time around.

I am into extreme feedism and eating myself to immobility, fyi.

We don't have experience taking them, but we do have knowledge of how they are used and what they do.

We always, always caution against using prescription medications for appetite stimulation, for multiple reasons.

1. Calories in does not necessarily mean you actually digested them. So increasing digestive throughput and capacity is far more important than increasing the raw amounts of food you eat. The two medications you listed do not help with this specifically.

2. 1st generation anti-histamines, like the cyproheptadine, are known to potentially result in liver problems. These problems are made more likely by and exacerbate the state of Fatty Liver. Fatty Liver is a real concern with extreme, long-term gaining. Complicated even further by the fact that Megace is also metabolised by the liver. Do be incredibly careful here. This tri-combo can be deadly.

C. Cannabis exists, can be consumed via edibles rather safely with very little negative side-effects, and is known to have the orexigenic properties you seek. If you are already acquiring prescriptions, this is likely way easier to get and cheaper.

This is not everything, nor are we a doctor, nor are we saying you shouldn't continue. But we highly recommend caution, care, and alternatives if you can find them in the future. If you wanna go all the way, then know it is a marathon, not a sprint, and trying to sprint there leads almost always in not making it as far as you want. Being generally healthy aside from overconsumption will get you a lot further than seeking a weight gain pill.

Thank you so much for your very thoughtful response!! I’m wondering what could, in your opinion, help with “digestive throughput and capacity”? That’s definitely something I’d like to optimize, and I’m absolutely not opposed to changing the meds around for longevity purposes.

Secondly, regarding the liver problems, I come from a family of pretty strong livers and get regular (every 6 months at the least) bloodwork due to unrelated things, and am planning on monitoring accordingly. My doctor may not support my goals but I do keep them in the know. (Which does make the visits a little hard ngl)

Regarding the cannabis, I’ve had CHS in the past, severe enough to cause hospitalization (been smoking daily over 10 yrs, but loads of concentrates and edibles put me over the edge) and have been avoiding anything but flower (legally from a dispensary) since then. It absolutely helps my appetite, but the negative effects of smoking 5x+ per day have me seeking another alternative.

Besides that, I appreciate the advice about it being a marathon rather than a sprint. That resonated a lot and absolutely has me considering what will align most with my goals. Thanks again!

The best thing to do for digestive throughput is maintain the health of gut fauna. Chewing more, eating/drinking yoghurt, getting leafy greens and legumes in the diet, these will all help as these all increase the health of the biome in general.

A controversial but true fact is that alcohol kills bacteria, so drinking less hard liquor will help, as well. It also keeps the liver from being taxed as hard, as alcohol is also metabolised via the liver. It is also good you have a doctor who, though conflicted, is helping you practice safely.

Yeah, smoking cannabis can be rough on the lungs, which is why we suggested edibles. Vapes and other tinctures are probably not much better than smoking, because its still resin in the lungs. Unfortunate that concentrates rough you up, but also if you can ask for CBD heavier mixes that might help with that!

Our goal is the same, to go for the really extreme limits, so we have done our diligence in our research.
